The RESTENA Foundation (Réseau Téléinformatique de l’Éducation Nationale et de la Recherche) interconnects and delivers essential network and security services to organizations active in research and education, health, culture or administration in Luxembourg. It also operates the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) in Luxembourg domain name registration infrastructure (.LU)

The RESTENA Foundation has an immediate opening for a permanent full-time

Security Engineer (m/f)

to be part of its security team. Key duties include the daily activities of the Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) as well as implementation and operation of security solutions to enhance the Foundation’s overall robustness and service portfolio. A relevant professional experience in the field of the CSIRT or IT security community would be a strong asset.

Required qualifications:
• solid understanding of the risk and threat landscape in the cybersecurity


  • solid understanding of Internet protocols and IT security;
  • good knowledge in Linux system administration;
  • good understanding of security infrastructures;
  • solid understanding of information security management;
  • degree or professional experience in IT security.

    Candidates should be strong problem solvers, able to work autonomously and as part of a team. They need to be curious and willing to learn. Tasks include analysis of security incidents, evaluation of new security technologies, following international developments including analysis and application of best practices or regulations, representation in technical fora, daily operations. They should be able to contribute to an ISO27001 certification by drafting and implementing processes.

    Good writing and communication skills as well as effective learning capabilities are essential. Good command in speech and writing in English, French and/or German is expected, and knowledge of Luxembourgish is considered an asset. We expect perseverance and creativity to strengthen our team.
